After successfully completing the materiality assessment, this holding client now faces the significant challenge of data collection, cleaning, standardization, and automation to achieve a compliant ESG report across all subsidiaries. The lack of a standardized data-sharing method among subsidiaries complicates the production of a unified ESG report. Additionally, varied technological platforms, including different cloud services, further impede the development of a single data processing solution. In response, Netlight has partnered with the Group's Tech Strategy department to develop and implement a detailed strategy for collecting, analyzing, and processing data from subsidiaries to create comprehensive reports. This initiative includes a thorough review of processes, work methods, and team structures across subsidiaries to ensure alignment with auditor expectations. Innovative automated processes and enhanced data collection strategies have also been introduced.
Developing the Next Generation CO2 Emission Measurement Solution
With over 79,000 employees across 1,300 sites in more than 100 countries, this client is a global leader in sea, air, and road logistics. Their previous emission tracking applications were unreliable and difficult to maintain, as they treated emission data as a non-essential feature. Facing new regulatory requirements, the client needed a robust, extendable, and auditable emission tracking application. Netlight guided the client through discovery, definition, development, and delivery stages to achieve industry-leading emission calculation: Initially, we conducted a technical analysis of existing solutions and examined upcoming regulatory challenges. Afterwards, we created a vision for the product and defined an extensible and easily auditable architecture. Eventually, we developed the emission measurement solution, combining GPS data, vehicle information, freight details and routing information for high-precision emission calculation in all modes of transport.

Reducing Green Hydrogen Production Cost With ML
The client is a Swedish industrial company with the mission to transform the steel industry by harnessing the power of green hydrogen. The first project is an integrated plant for hydrogen, iron, and steel production featuring one of the world's largest hydrogen plants. Electricity is the most significant cost factor for producing green hydrogen. In this context, using Machine Learning (ML) methods and Advanced Analytics to enable smart energy trading has been identified as the most significant driver for potential savings. Netlight provided a team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers to lead and execute proof of concepts on energy management in hydrogen production. The team evaluate various business cases and their technical feasibility. Different prototypes have been designed and implemented using advanced ML models and simulation algorithms to predict the electricity market, including spot price and balancing market developments to steer cost-optimized energy purchase.
Enabling IT as a Core Function in a Green Cloud Environment
The client is Germany's first common good economy-balanced green energy supplier. As such, the client aims to minimize the environmental impact of its operations, including its IT systems. However, as the client relied on external service providers for all digital products, optimizing for Sustainable IT was beyond their control. Additionally, the outdated tech stack made it difficult to attract developers, and siloed product development compromised efficiency. Netlight re-architected their systems following Green Software principles while using popular technologies with modern Cloud infrastructure. The technology update and strong focus on sustainability enhanced the client's job market appeal and increased IT agility. Netlight helped build an internal team, gradually taking over development. Sustainability was established as core pillar of the development cycle, leading to optimizations through virtualization, serverless computing, and static-site generation.
